Local author, musician, and educator Maurice “Mo” Troop runs for Erie City Council to serve you and our community.

Mo is running because of his deep passion for serving the entire community, meeting the people's needs, and helping create a better future for the city.

His message for Erie is:

1. Creating a table where all people of our community are valued and have equal opportunity.

2. Being proactive in building a safe community.

3. Meeting the needs of homeless individuals and families fallen on hard times.

4. Nurturing and educating our future generations.

He is a proud homegrown product of Erie, PA. Through hard work, vision, and effort, he overcame obstacles such as poverty and growing up in a single-parent home to become a positive success story.

His experiences as an educational leader and community organizer come from a well-known family in Erie for having the heart to serve others. From the ’50s till the present day, his family has served the Erie community. This passion for serving has also been passed to him, and he has continued the tradition of helping others.

Mo is a life-long Erie resident and he and his wife Deirdre have three children.
